We are proud to announce that one of our Assent team has been shortlisted for two awards! The prestigious Women in Construction Award at the London Construction Awards and Woman of the Year at the Women in Fire Safety Awards.
The Women in Construction Award celebrates the outstanding contributions made and champions the important role of women in construction, particularly looking at inspiring organisations, initiatives or individuals advocating for equality and actively driving change within a workplace or on a project. While the Woman of the Year Award recognises women in all areas of the Fire Safety Industry whose examples serve to inspire our next generation and deserve recognition for their daily excellence.
Lisa Hendricks, our Business Development Manager confidently displays a distinguished 20+ year financial services career with five esteemed blue-chip companies. She transitioned to construction 10 years ago, specializing in cladding at an EWI company. Later, she joined Assent, based in the Surrey office and has made a significant impact on growth and elevating the profile of Building Control over the past six years.
Her championing of the industry was strengthened after attending a Women in Business networking event with Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP, who, after talking to Lisa about building control, opened doors within government for Lisa and the team to advocate for a level playing field within building control, successfully placing Building Control on the agenda and facilitating productive discussions between Approved Inspectors and the construction sector.
Lisa, a co-founder of the Fire Safety Building Regulations Group (FSBRG), has been instrumental in its impressive growth. The group started with Lisa, a colleague and one other AI, and now has 130+ members, with over 10% being female. FSBRG promotes unified standards in building control, inspiring the next generation to join the sector. Regular meetings feature esteemed guest speakers such as Dame Judith Hackitt, who contribute valuable insights on industry challenges, fostering engaging discussions and pan-industry collaborations.
Lisa has been involved in the running of the Next Generation Building Control and Women in Building Control initiatives, both of which have seen growth in popularity over the last 12 months and contribute to young people joining the sector.
Iain Thomson, CEO at Assent, said βThe work Lisa does is integral to the visibility of our industry. From encouraging women and young people to pursue building control as a career, to advocating for change within the sector through the FSBRG. Lisa makes a fantastic contribution to the sector and these nominations are very well deserved.β
