Approved Inspectors and the availability of Professional Indemnity Insurance

There has been a lot of speculation over the last few weeks regarding Approved Inspectors and the availability of Professional Indemnity Insurance.

The Approved Inspector insurance market is heavily controlled by central government, as a result some insurers are re-assessing the market and others are limiting their exposure.

Following the Grenfell tragedy this has been further squeezed, the net effect on providers is increasing premiums dramatically, introducing exclusions and increasing policy excesses.

In February 2019 following a successful negotiation Assent Building Control renewed its annual PII insurance. We are in regular contact with our insurers and the cover we have allows Assent to act as Approved Inspector on all types of construction projects in the domestic and commercial markets with competitive levels of cover.

Assent have also recently undergone both our CICAIR Re-Licence Audit and an independent ISO9001:2015 Quality Management Systems audit.
