The new production facility for Haribo near Castleford is nearing completion. The £35 million scheme has taken over 18 months to build on site and Assent have been involved all the way since inception of the project. With 30,700 cubic meters of concrete and 3,000 tonnes of steel making up the structure, the new building comprises three manufacturing floors larger than two football pitches where 48,000 tonnes of sweets will be produced per year. Due to the size and complexity of the project Assent were an essential part of the process ensuring that the design met all the required outcomes. Building Control Surveyor Nicola Booth said “Working on this project has been a wonderful experience and one that I will not forget”.
The architects were Harris Partnership and the main contractors were Wates.
