Meet Director of Quality, Risk & Compliance, Kate Morement

We’re continuing to put the spotlight on various team members across Assent, Xact and Clarke Banks.  Next up is another of Assent’s Directors, Kate Morement:

What is your role at Assent and what are your Accountabilities?

I am the Director of Quality, Risk & Compliance, and my accountabilities are to lead and manage risk and compliance, including:

• quality management and health & safety;
• reviewing and developing policies and procedures to ensure compliance under the BSR and to meet industry standards that our clients increasingly demand;
• ensuring that risk, compliance, health & safety, training, and education is delivered across the business to continually improve our individual and company-wide risk management;
• and as part of this, with the support of my team, I am responsible for all internal audit processes to identify, assess, and mitigate all potential risks, whilst ensuring compliance with quality standards, policies, regulations, and industry standards.

What is your background prior to Assent?

I started off in the construction industry in 2007. I began as a trainee asbestos surveyor and asbestos analyst. After a number of years onsite, I went into the health and safety side in 2012. I have worked in numerous private and public sector roles ever since, always performing health, safety and compliance roles at a management and strategic level. The reason I started in health, safety and compliance was due to my father passing away from asbestos related lung cancer. Due to this being so personal to myself, compliance and the health & safety of colleagues and the public is always at the forefront of my mind.

Who do you Line Manage?

I oversee the Group’s administrative support function QA Team, Project Assessment Team and the Technical QA Team.

What do you enjoy doing when not working?

I am a massive family person and on weekends me and my husband take our little cockapoo Winston to our static caravan based in Whitby where we love long walks followed by a pub and lunch session. I am also a keen runner following my weight loss, my knees are telling me I m old but my brain does not agree.
